Global ET Power Management Controller (SIMPMC) Module Graphic The SIM Power Management Controller (SIMPMC) is a hardened embedded PC that provides high level computing and networking capabilities for embedded power applications. The SIMPMC boasts many standard PC interfaces including USB, ethernet, VGA.

The SIMPMC is an ideal solution for many power and energy implementations such as Distributed Energy Resource (DER) control, Fuel Cell Control, Vehicle Power Integration, Microgrid control, or Residential Power Automation.

The SIMPMC has been designed for power management and integration applications. With a rich embedded operating system (Windows XPe), it can run virtually any application especially .NET (VB, C++, C#), LabView, etc. The SIMPMC is a solid state controller with no moving parts making it suitable for mobile applications.

The SIMPMC is equipped with 512M RAM and standard Compact Flash storage up to 16 G in capacity. Standard PC interfaces such as keyboard, mouse, VGA, ethernet, and USB allow for easy integration and use. However, the SIMPMC is perfectly capable of operating in a "headless" mode with no user interface devices.

The SIMPMC can provide many server based functions such as a web server, email server, file server, print server, etc.

Global ET supplies a wide variety of Power Management Applications (PMA) that execute on the SIMPMC to perform many power management functions. The SIMPMC is the master controller in a configuration with many SIMPCUs, illustrated as follows:

With full PC functionality and high speed networking and communication options, the SIMPMC can interface to many communications network, concurrently. This could be ethernet, Controller Area Network (CAN), wireless ethernet, USB, Zigbee, as well as industrial networks such as Modbus, LonWorks, BACnet, Ethernet/IP, Metasys, DH+, Profibus, ControlNet, SNMP, etc.

Within the power and energy industry, the SIMPMC can communicate protocols such as IEC61850, IEC60870, DNP3, DLMS, etc.

When networked, the SIMPMC can serve as a versatile gateway to common or secure networks that require high speed communication, reliability, data storage, and accessibility.

Due to its low power consumption, the SIMPMC can be deployed in the field with battery power for SCADA and data logging applications. In addition, the SIMPMC can be implemented onboard vehicles for intelligent power management communication and control functions.

With the emergence of onsite supplemental or substitutive Distributed Energy Resources (DER), the SIMPMC can regulate and monitor prime mover performance, diagnostics, and efficiency.
